PAYMENT

Online Bill Pay/Credit Card/Debit Card

You have 3 different options to make online payments. The first option is online billing. This method will allow you to view invoices, total amounts paid, make changes, sign up for direct withdrawal and paperless billing.

The second option for making payments to the Toledo Water Company is Quick Pay. This option offers customers a quicker way to view account balances and payments received. 

The third option goes directly through Paymentus. This option doesn’t give you any account details just an option to make a payment. This method is perfect for you if you already have a billing statement and you just want to make an online payment direct versus bill pay.

Automatic Payments

You can set up automatic payments with Direct Payment Plan.

Over the phone payments can be made by calling 866-417-0726. You can use a credit or debit card over the phone.

BILLING

Bills

After you have registered, you will be able to access your utility account. You can view invoices and balances due, make a payment, sign up and make changes to your bank plan, change contact information and register for paperless billing.

Bills are normally mailed within 3 days of the meter reading and they become due 15 business days after the statement is produced.
 
Landlords and property managers cannot have the tenants put the Toledo Water bills into their name. The DPU does not enter into service contracts with tenants.
 

SERVICE

New Service

You must apply in person or over the phone. When applying, you will need to complete a new service application, provide a photo ID and make an appointment for DPU to read the inside meter.

Water Shut-Off

You must call 419-245-1800 to schedule a final meter reading and pay off all outstanding Toledo Water Department account balances.

Water Emergency and Repair Turn Off Service

Call 419-936-2020 to report a water main break or other water emergencies. For water turn off services, call 419-936-2020 from 7:00AM-10:30PM, they operate 7 days a week.

Senior Water Discount

The senior water discount is available for primary single family home owners in the City of Toledo. Home owners must be 65 years or older. If disabled, you may also qualify for this program.

Make Changes to Account

If you would like to make changes on your Toledo Water Department account, you must either login or create an online account at the Department of Public Utilities below.

Sewer and drainage services operate and maintain more than 2000 miles of sewer channels in the Toledo area. I want to pay my bill. What are my options?

You can use one of the several supported payment options.

  1. You can send a check or a money order by mail.
  2. You can pay in person by coming to the 420 Madison Avenue, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, during workdays.
  3. You can arrange automatic payments with your bank.
  4. You can make online credit card payments using Paymentus. You can also call them by phone at 866-417-0726.

How often does the Water Division send out water bills?

Most customers are billed quarterly. However, large industrial and commercial consumers are billed monthly.

I want to report a water emergency. Who should I call?

If you want to report a water main break or any other water emergency, call 419-936-2020 and provide as much information as possible. You can call them 24/7.

I’m falling behind on my bills. What should I do?

If you have any problems paying your bills, you should contact the Customer Service at 419-245-1800 or visit the Water Division in person. The address is 420 Madison Avenue.

There’s a person at my door claiming to be a representative of the Toledo Water Division. How can I confirm his identity?

All field personnel wear blue pants and shirt or jacket with the City of Toledo logo on the left side of the chest. They drive official City of Toledo blue vehicles with the logo of the city and Water Division written on the doors.

If you want to verify that a field employee was sent to your address, you can call the Customer Service at 419-245-1800.

I don’t understand how Quick Pay works. Can you explain that?

If you have any problems understanding Quick Pay, you can check out this online guide. In case you have any doubts after reading the guide, we advise you to reach out to the Water Division by calling 419-245-1800 and talking to a Customer Service representative. They accept calls from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday.

I just bought a house and moved in to the area. How can I set up a new service?

To establish a new service, you need to complete an application, provide an ID form, and schedule a reading of the inside water meter. You can apply in person or by phone.

I’m a tenant. Can I put a water bill in my name?

No, the Toledo Water Division does not enter into contractual relationships with tenants.

When is my next meter reading?

You can see the next water meter reading date at the top of your bill. However, you can also find out the next meter reading date by calling the Water Division Customer Service at 419-245-1800 and pressing the Option 4.

How can I check if I qualify for a discount?

All home owners who are 65 or older, or totally disabled qualify for the homestead discount, regardless of their income level. To apply for the homestead discount, you will need to contact the Lucas County Auditor’s Office.

Before you contact the Water Division, we advise that you go through this list of frequently asked questions about online billing. I want to close my account. How can I do that?

If you want to close your account, you will need to contact the Water Division to arrange a final meter reading, provide access to the infrastructure on your property and pay the final bill.
