Online Bank Draft

You can pay your bills using a one-time online bank draft with a checking or savings account. However, you will need to register an online account with Toledo Edison first. It will take up to three business days for the payment to be processed and your account to be billed.

Toledo Edison places certain restrictions on one-time bank drafts. You will not be able to pay your bills this way if:

  • You register for a cash only account
  • Your account type is collective billing
  • More than 30 days have passed since the bill’s due date
  • Your service has been disconnected

Automatic Card Payments

The Toledo Edison Automatic Credit Card Payment Program allows you to forget worrying about your electric bills. Under this program, your credit or debit card will automatically be charged when a bill becomes due.

One-Time Credit Card Payment

You can use your credit or debit card to make a one-time payment to Toledo Edison to settle your bills through ePay Preferred. You can do this online or by phone. To make a phone payment, call 866-569-4770.

Supported cards: Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, 
ATM debit cards: Pulse, Star, NYCE

When you complete the payment, you will be given a confirmation number. Always save this number. If you need help with your payment, call the ePay Preferred Customer Service at 800-794-1630.

Checkless Payments

Toledo Edison allows its customers to enroll into the checkless payments plan and pay their bills directly through their bank account. Under this plan, customers can choose automatic bank payments or direct payments.

If you opt for direct payments, you will have to make each bill payment manually through Direct Payment Plan, the authorized third-party service.

You can sign up for checkless payments through Direct Payment Plan or by calling the Toledo Edison Customer Service at 800-447-3333, from 8 AM to 6 PM, Monday to Friday.


To pay your electric bills by phone, call 866-569-4770 with your credit or debit card, electric bill and Toledo Edison account number prepared. The payment goes through ePay Preferred and a convenience fee will be applied.

Equal Payment Plan

Under the Equal Payment Plan, Toledo customers pay equal monthly bills throughout the year, despite their usage. This way, you’re billed 1/12th of your estimated annual electricity usage.

This does not mean that your bills will be lower. Each year, your bill will be re-evaluated and adjusted to follow your usage more closely.



Toledo Edison allows its customers to sign up for electronic bills and start receiving online bills and bill notifications. Under this program, you can pay your bills online from your phone or computer.

Late Bill Payments

If you think you will not be able to pay your bill in time, contact the Toledo Edison Customer Service at 800-447-3333 to avoid service disconnection. The line is open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Meter Reading

New Service

Are you moving in to the area? Be sure to request service from Toledo Edison at least two days before you want the electricity service to start. You can do that by filling out the following form:

Lighting Problems

Is there a lighting problem in your area? You can report the problem and request that an outdoor light be fixed by completing the following form.


If you think there is an electrical emergency in your vicinity, call 888-544-4877 immediately. Stay away from power lines, especially if they’re downed, and always assume that the wires are live and dangerous.

Damaged power lines can kill you. Do not touch them under any circumstance. For absolute safety, stay at least 30 feet away from the downed wire and the damaged pole.

If a downed power line falls on your vehicle, stay inside. Call 888-544-4877 and do not leave the vehicle until help arrives and deals with the problem.

Electrical Accidents

If someone was involved in an electrical accident inside or in the vicinity of your home, use the main circuit breaker to cut the power off and call 911 for medical help.

If you see that someone came in contact with an outside power line, call 911 immediately. Do not attempt to move the person or the damaged power line.

Scams, Frauds, Impersonations

If you have an unexpected visit from someone claiming to be a Toledo Edison employee, do not allow them to enter your home without proper identification. If someone calls you and asks for immediate payments from you to keep your service running, hang up the phone. The person is not associated with Toledo Edison in any way.

If someone calls you to request sensitive personal information, such as a social security number, do not share your info. Toledo Edison employees will never call you and ask for such information.

Similarly, do not open links in texts or emails, if you are not sure that the sender is an employee of Toledo Edison.

I don’t want to worry about my bill payments. Can I set up automatic monthly payments?

Yes. All Toledo Edison customers can sign up for automatic monthly payments. You can choose between automatic card payments and automatic bank drafts.

I’m not happy with my service. What are my options?

If you’re not happy with your service, you can request electrical works and a service upgrade here. Alternatively, you can cancel your service altogether and choose another electric company.

An outdoor light in my street is not working. How can I report the issue?

You can send in an online repairs request and a Toledo Edison employee will solve the issue.

Can I pay my bills by mail?

I don’t think I can afford to pay my bills. What should I do?
